The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) intensifies efforts to improve science and technology talents in the Philippines, through the scholarship support of students to become good scientists and engineers in the future.
The Science and Technology Scholarship of SEI is DOST’s contribution to the country’s human resources in the science and technology sector to focuse on research and development.
Talented and deserving high school graduates in the Philippines are provided opportunities to pursue four or five year baccalaureate degrees in priority science and technology fields.

WorldBank invests in Cebu city development

The World Bank (WB) funds two projects for Cebu City, Philippines that will support and complement the development of the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
The WB-funded projects are a sustainable energy development program and the mobile vehicle probes demonstration for urban transport planning and management.
The WB only waits the official agreement with the City to start the two projects next month.

CanCham sets up office in Cebu

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) sets up office in Cebu, to strengthen trade relations, investment and labor mobility between Canada and Cebu.
The chamber is a non-profit organization established in 1989 whose mission is to “represent, support, and promote Canada-Philippines business interests.” It provides information, expert briefings on trade and investments issues and networking events for its members and the public.
The CanCham local chapter in Cebu will expand commercial relations between Canadian and Cebu-based businesses and investors. Its CanCham’s conviction that there is a great potential for growth in two-way trade and investment between the two countries.
