The Business Processing Association of the Philippines reports that the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the Philippines is keen on entering new markets. The BPO sector pushes into new markets such as the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific.

Because of the growth of the Asia-Pacific region, the sector is looking to capitalize on its language and communication capabilities. The biggest demand is for Korean, Japanese and Chinese Mandarin.

Stephanie Overby of CIO interviews Professor Ilan Oshri on his new book, “Offshoring Strategies: Evolving Captive Center Models” (2011) which delves into the century-old history of the strategy, the continuing challenges captive facilities encounter and the promising resurgence of captive facilities.

Ilan Oshri is an Associate Professor in Strategic Management from Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus, The Netherlands. His main research interest lies in the area of knowledge management and innovation.

He is also the co-author of “The Handbook of Global Outsourcing and Offshoring” (2009), “Outsourcing Global Services” (2008), “Knowledge Processes in Globally Distributed Contexts” (2008) and “Standards-Battles in Open Source Software” (2008). Proferssor Oshri is also the co-founder of the Global Sourcing workshop.
