Stephanie Overby of CIO interviews Professor Ilan Oshri on his new book, “Offshoring Strategies: Evolving Captive Center Models” (2011) which delves into the century-old history of the strategy, the continuing challenges captive facilities encounter and the promising resurgence of captive facilities.

Ilan Oshri is an Associate Professor in Strategic Management from Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus, The Netherlands. His main research interest lies in the area of knowledge management and innovation.

He is also the co-author of “The Handbook of Global Outsourcing and Offshoring” (2009), “Outsourcing Global Services” (2008), “Knowledge Processes in Globally Distributed Contexts” (2008) and “Standards-Battles in Open Source Software” (2008). Proferssor Oshri is also the co-founder of the Global Sourcing workshop.

The Everest Research Institute predicts Finance and Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) market will experience an impressive 20 percent growth (year-on-year) in terms of Annualized Contract Value (ACV) this 2011. The renewals in Total Contract Value of an estimated $2 billion will contribute to such growth with expansion of the scope of services.

This is the same growth experienced, before the recession.
