The Philippines is IBM’s Top Destination for Business Support

“For business support functions (such as shared services and business process outsourcing) the Philippines has taken over the lead in the global ranking from India, after having challenged the top position for several years.
This is the first time that India is not in the leading position for these activities. The Philippines offers a similarly attractive business environment for international business support functions as India, but has not had the same labor cost increases as have occurred in various Indian ‘hot spots’ in recent years.”

Stephanie Overby of CIO interviews Professor Ilan Oshri on his new book, “Offshoring Strategies: Evolving Captive Center Models” (2011) which delves into the century-old history of the strategy, the continuing challenges captive facilities encounter and the promising resurgence of captive facilities.
Ilan Oshri is an Associate Professor in Strategic Management from Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus, The Netherlands. His main research interest lies in the area of knowledge management and innovation.
He is also the co-author of “The Handbook of Global Outsourcing and Offshoring” (2009), “Outsourcing Global Services” (2008), “Knowledge Processes in Globally Distributed Contexts” (2008) and “Standards-Battles in Open Source Software” (2008). Proferssor Oshri is also the co-founder of the Global Sourcing workshop.
