Airline carriers Philippine Airlines and AirPhil Express address the increasing demand for flight connectivity in the country this season and in the years to come.

Low-cost carrier AirPhil Express beefs up its fleet with its recently acquired six Airbus A320, expanding its fleet to 14 aircraft.

The Airbus A320 units service certain domestic flights and the airline’s international flights between Singapore from Manila and Cebu. The Airbus carries 180 passengers and raises comfort standards in the single-aisle jetliner category. It offers wider seats, more legroom and elbowroom, and roomy carry-on baggage space.

These also ensure efficient fuel burn and decreased maintenance costs that translate to savings for the company that they in turn pass on to their passengers.

Meanwhile, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) adds more flights to select routes amid strong demand for more seats this holiday season.

The surge of holiday travelers has forced PAL to deploy more aircraft in the next two weeks. Bigger aircraft will also be transferred to routes that experience heavier traffic.

For this year’s peak season, PAL has added flights to five international (Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Riyadh and Singapore) and seven domestic (Zamboanga, Ozamiz, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Dipolog, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro) destinations.

Five selected flights going to Guam are also using a bigger aircraft (Airbus A330), the same with the mid-morning flight from Manila to Davao, using the Boeing 747-400.

Details of changes in schedule and aircraft can be seen on www.philippineairlines.com, the airline’s official website.

The company also announced that it would be selling discounted tickets for flights between Manila and destinations in North America, namely Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco.
