Social networks are more prevalent than ever. A new survey proves that social networks actually do not isolate people from real-life interactions.
According to the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project; members, or users of social networks like Facebook, “trust” more, thus have more close friends, get more social interactivity and support compared to their non-networked counterparts.

Cebu’s Social Networking for Connectivity

The province embarks on a social marketing program to help announce that Cebu, Philippines is open to global business and trade.
Research, Education and Institutional Development Foundation Inc. (REID) reports that while the country has established a social marketing program composed of officials from the Department of Tourism, Department of Transportation and Communications and airport authorities to market the country, Cebu can embark on its own promotional campaign.

Cebu’s Creative Industries and Services

Creative industries have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and that have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property. Creative industries encompass major segments including: artisanal products; visual arts; performing arts; cinema and audiovisual media; literature, books and publishing; and others.
The UNCTAD/UNDP classification of creative industries is divided into four broad groups: HERITAGE, ARTS, MEDIA, AND FUNCTIONAL CREATIONS, including creative services such as architectural, advertising, cultural and recreational, creative research and development (R&D), digital and other related creative services.

In a previous Outsourcing Opinions article last February 2011, the World Bank invests in Cebu City, Philippines as a major urban center not only in the country but also in the region of East Asia. After months of preparation, one of World Bank’s promised projects is about to start this June 2011.
Cebu City is one of three cities in East Asia that were chosen to serve as pilot areas for the Sustainable Urban Energy Development (SUED) program of the World Bank.
