Business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in the Philippines target new markets in the Asia Pacific region, like China, India and Sri Lanka.

Philippines can enter these markets as it remains competitive in both the voice and non-voice services, establishing a brand that could help promote the Philippine BPO services.

Aside from these new markets, the Business Process Association of the Philippines continues promoting the BPO sector in the United States, Europe and Australia markets where more investments are expected.

Philippines budget airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) is to acquire 37 new aircraft – the largest single aircraft order ever made by a Philippine carrier – that will double its fleet size by 2021.

The low-cost carrier has placed a new order for 30 A321neo (new engine option) aircraft with options for an additional 10 A321neos. The latter will be a first-of-its-type to operate in the Philippines, being a larger and longer-haul version of the familiar A320. Cebu Pacific has made the largest firm order for the Airbus A321neo aircraft in the world.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reports Asia will continue to lead global economic growth over the next two years even as the region grapples with risks including inflation, turmoil in the Middle East and the effects of Japan’s tsunami.

Robust growth will be driven by economic powerhouses China and India. The IMF forecasts China’s economy will grow 9.5 percent while India will expand about 8 percent over the next two years.
