A United Kingdom court ruling forces Hewlitt-Packard acquisition EDS, a computer services firm,  to pay a former outsourcing  client damages for being unable to provide what was promised: a customer service system.

The client alleges that EDS deceived them and were negligent in fulfilling their contract. EDS could be liable to pay up 4 times the service contract’s original amount: 200 million pounds.

This case shows once more that services providers have to careful with their promotions particularly with potential clients in order not to overpromise, underperform then get sued for it. Also clients need to pay due diligence to what providers say so that they’re assured they get the full value of what they’re about to pay for.
