Philippines, Fair Business Climate

In a report released Tuesday, Moody’s Investors Service raises its outlook on the banking sectors of the Philippines and 11 other countries in the Asia-Pacific from “negative” to “stable,” reflecting its projection of improving credit conditions that will benefit the stability banking sectors as these are crucial to developing domestic economies.

According to the  latest quarterly Investor Dashboard Survey by Dutch financial giant ING,  the Philippines is still a fairly attractive investment destination despite recent natural disasters and the negative perceptions of its socio-political stability caused by such incidents like the Maguindanao massacre.

ING rates the country’s performance to be “fairly steady,” as investor confidence index slipped from 135 in the previous quarter by a notch to 134 in the fourth quarter of 2009.
