Cebu City, Philippines — The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) launches Mandaue Business Month (MBM) 2011 this August.

MBM is an annual celebration done in cooperation with government to highlight public-private partnership. MBM aims to showcase the best economic, social and cultural endowments and potentials of Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines

Being true to its commitment as a catalyst of change, the business month paves the way for a series of events that will highlight sustainable and environment-friendly business practices.

MCCI will also introduce two new activities this August – the Ovanta (Outstanding Ventures and New Technological Alternatives Exhibition) that would showcase new global green technology and alternatives and the search for Winners (Women in Need, Now Entrepreneurs and Role Models), where 27 women entrepreneurs from Mandaue City will go through personality makeovers and trainings to compete for the cash prizes to augment their business capitalization.

Among the other events is the Obra Negosyo Eskwela Exhibit, where 16 towns will showcase products that transformed as a result of the business-education program. The chamber will also launch season 2 of Obra Negosyo Eskwela.

MCCI will also hold the One Cebu Business and Sustainability Summit on innovative entrepreneurship for a sustainable economy. The summit will feature innovative success stories and best practices of individuals and organizations in entrepreneurship.

Regardless of the size of business, Cebuano entrepreneurs are encouraged to focus on innovation and adapt to changing trends, or they will be left behind. With a lot of businesses in the market, innovation is an important key to stay ahead of the competition.

Innovation need not involve just creating something new; entrepreneurs can work on their existing products and tweak it to cater to a specific niche market. Using social networking sites such as Facebook to market the business as an example of innovation.
