2009 ASEAN starts

The 2009  summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and related meetings with key regional partners will begin Friday at the beach resort town of Hua Hin, Thailand.

The region’s immediate rebound from the global recession compared with Western economies is expected to set the mood for talks on further freeing up trade, investment and people across Asia. Asia to dominate global BPO

India, China and the Philippines, are touted to dominate the global outsourcing industry, according to Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, vice chairman and chief executive of India’s Zensar Technologies, who believes the future of outsourcing belongs to Asia as it captures between 80 to 85 percent of the industry.

The Philippines to get on the Cloud

Netsuite, a US-based software firm specializing in “cloud computing”, intends to double its local operations over the next two years, as part of a strategy to groom the Philippines as a hub for cloud computing services worldwide.

IT staff shift off-shore equals better savings

Research firm Forrester reports that companies that shift more staff off-shore derives more savings than the 5 to 10 percent rate reductions they have been seeking from their IT vendors.
